What does Shopify Plus cost?

Shopify Plus pricing starts at around $2,000/month (billed annually). The exact amount depends on your revenue: there’s a revenue-based component where you pay 0.25% of monthly turnover, up to a cap.

In practice most merchants pay between $2,000 and $2,500/month. At very high volumes (above ~$800K/month revenue) the percentage model can kick in, but there’s a ceiling.

Transaction fees: with Shopify Payments, 0.15% on Shopify Plus vs 0.5% on Advanced. For a store doing €500K/month in revenue, that’s a saving of ~€1,750/month in transaction fees alone — which goes a long way towards justifying the Plus subscription.

When does Shopify Plus make sense?

Shopify Plus starts making financial sense when:

Revenue above €1M/year (roughly) — the transaction fee savings and reduced developer costs at scale make the higher subscription worthwhile. Below this threshold, Advanced usually gives you better ROI.

Custom checkout — if you need a bespoke checkout flow (upsells, custom fields, business-to-business ordering), Shopify Plus’s Checkout Extensibility is the only way to do this natively.

International expansion — Plus gives you up to 9 expansion stores under one contract, which is ideal for multi-market strategies with different languages, currencies and catalogues.

B2B wholesale — Shopify Plus has native B2B functionality including company accounts, net payment terms and volume pricing. For wholesale businesses this is significantly better than app-based solutions.

Automation at scale — Shopify Flow on Plus supports complex multi-step automations: tagging orders, managing inventory alerts, triggering fulfilment workflows.

When NOT to choose Shopify Plus

Shopify Plus is not for everyone. Don’t upgrade if:

• You’re under €1M/year in revenue — Advanced will serve you better at lower cost
• You just want “more features” — most day-to-day features are available on lower plans
• Your motivation is prestige rather than specific functionality needs

The jump from $299 to $2,000/month is substantial. Make sure you can identify specific Shopify Plus features that directly address your current constraints.
